| 1 - The 'From and To' dates
show the period that is reflected on the bill. The 'Billing Date'
and 'Due Date' are listed. Bills always come out the first of the
month and are due the 20th. |
| 2 - The readings are actual
meter readings unless there is an asterisk "*" in the EST
(estimated) column. The number listed under 'Used' is the usage that
the bill is based upon. The 'Cost Adjustment' is the savings that
the City receives from the supplier. Our savings are passed on to
you. The 'Code' indicates what the charge is for. See below
for a list of Codes. Sales tax is charged on Electric and
Water. The tax rate for Electric is currently 6%. The tax rate
on water is 7%. If you are on the Budget Billing (also known as the
Level Payment Agreement), your 'Budgeted Balance' will reflect the balance
on your account. If there is a minus sign in front of the amount,
then your balance is a credit balance (you have overpaid). If there
is no minus sign, you have underpaid. See below for more information
on Budget Billing. If you have a balance leftover from the previous
month, it will be listed under 'Previous Balance'. |
| 4 - The 'Total Due Now' is
the amount you must pay if you pay before the 21st of the month. If
you pay on the 21st or anytime thereafter, you must pay the amount listed
under 'Total Due After Due Date'. |
| 5 - The 'Location' is the
service address. Your account number follows. If you have an
after-hours emergency involving your utilities, the number to call is
203-0206. |
| 6 - The right hand side of
the bill is the portion that you are requested to submit with your payment
because of the bar code. It lists your account number, amount due
and your mailing address. |

| Budget Billing Plan (Also
known as Level Payment Agreement) |
| If you would like your bill
to be the same amount every month, you can do this by signing up for the
Level Payment/Budget Billing plan. The monthly amount is figured by
using the estimated average charges. These figures are re-evaluated
every March. Any overpayment or underpayment is figured into the new
amount. The City does not issue checks for overpayments. It is
recommended that you wait until you have had 12 consecutive billings
before signing up for this plan, so that the figures are based on your
actual usage, and not the usage of the previous occupant. If you are
moving into a brand new house, with no history, you may not sign up for
the plan until there is significant history for us to base your payment
on. You may go off the budget billing at any time, however you must
then wait one year before signing back up. Your budget balance will
be indicated on your bill each month. If, at any time, you have
questions about the plan, your balance, or how your bill is figured,
please call City Hall and we will be happy to go through it with
you.
